A sort of kitchen that chefs will drool on. The owners of this home are starting a garden wedding and tea business from their homestead, so the Kitchens architect was called on to design a kitchen big enough to host a number of chefs and provide easily accessible work stations with plenty of bench space and storage. The previous kitchen was situated at the entry to the home. It was a timber galley-style kitchen that didn’t complement the home or make any use of the surrounding valley. The client wanted the new kitchen to blend in with the existing home and the surrounding beauty of the Valley. The kitchen was to also allow ease of access to the large surrounding deck flowing onto the luxurious gardens and sandstone surrounding the lake. The result is a very attractive space designed for high usage. It consists of two island benches allowing multiple work stations for a keen home chef who likes to entertain. The elegant modern- classic door profile suits the surrounding acreage and farming aspect of the property and is complemented by the White Stone benchtops and splashbacks. The intelligent design consists of well-thought- out work stations to allow each chef to work efficiently. The kitchen is divided into five work zones, starting with the food storage zone, which includes the double-door fridge and large walk-in pantry. This flows into the preparation zone incorporating two large white stone workbenches, large drawers for mixing bowls and plenty of cooking utensils.
The cleaning zone consists of two dual bin systems, sink drawers, an integrated dishwasher, a large double-bowl sink and separate hand washing sink. The next zone is the feature-packed cooking zone, followed by the final food-serving zone with large crockery and cutlery drawers, wine and beverage bar fridges and casual seating around the outer island. This kitchen uniquely blends into the picturesque Valley aspect perfectly and still incorporates the latest European trends. The kitchen’s modern-classic look instantly gives you a sense of relaxation, allowing one to forget the hustle and bustle of modern life and simply take in the scenery. It is a kitchen where the inside and outside can both be used successfully, whether sitting inside and taking in the view from the island bench or outside at the island bench enjoying the ambience of valley living.
